Enabling power management on a per-host level


Power management can be modified on a per-host level. The settings at the host level will override the cluster-level DPM settings.

Power management is set at the host level by modifying the DPM's automation level on each host.

Getting ready

This is done to override the DPM's cluster level settings, so make sure that you have access to the vCenter managing the intended host cluster with DPM enabled.

How to do it…

The following procedure will help you set the DPM automation level on a host:

  1. From the vCenter's inventory home, navigate to the Hosts and Clusters view.

  2. Select the cluster and navigate to Manage | Settings | Host Options.

  3. Select a host and click on Edit to bring up the Edit Host Options window.

  4. In the Edit Host Options window, change the DPM power mode to the desired automation level and click on OK. You can choose to ignore the BMC fields as they are not mandatory to set the host-level DPM automation. However, they are essential for DPM to function...
