If you have a VASA capable array, then you can add a VASA provider to the vCenter Server so that it can generate array capabilities for each LUN or datastore. A capability generated by the provider is called a system storage capability.
To check whether the array used in your environment is VASA capable, use the VMware Compatibility Guide available at http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=vasa.
The HP StoreVirtual VSA used in the lab for this book is VASA capable. In this recipe, you will about how to add a storage provider corresponding to the array to the vCenter Server.
Since we are using a HP StoreVirtual VSA, you will need a storage provider server configured with HP OneView for the storage installed.
