I like this particular dashboard as it demonstrates how you can be creative with super metrics. This dashboard is courtesy of my colleague Yuval Tenenbaum, a lead SE for Cloud Management based in the UK.

As a storage administrator, you may have a policy of not placing more than 15 VMs per datastore. You also want to keep 20 percent free space to cater for snapshots and growth. In a large environment, this can be difficult to enforce and track. If you have hundreds of datastores, it can be cumbersome to show the degree of compliance on a single screen. Ideally, you would like to see a heat map showing all datastores; the higher the number of VMs, or the lesser the capacity left in percentage, the more the datastore should be highlighted (in red). So the heat map would show the information at a glance, if the boxes in the heat map are closer to green, that all of your datastores...
