An understanding of the updates deployment processes is the most important task for the administrator. Here is a short description of these processes.
After software update point is installed, there is a need for performing data synchronization. This operation can be done manually from the console under Software Library\Software Updates\All Software Updates or automatically according to the schedule:
Process of synchronizing information about updates
The installation process looks as follows:
- On the ConfigMgr server, the administrator chooses product classes that should be synchronized with Microsoft Update. The ConfigMgr server connects to the WSUS server and triggers the synchronization.
- The WSUS server connects to the Microsoft Update website and performs synchronization according to the settings saved in the ConfigMgr console. Synchronized data is saved in the database.
