Overview of this book

ServiceNow is a SaaS application that provides workflow form-based applications. It is an ideal platform for creating enterprise-level applications, giving requesters and fulfillers improved visibility and access to a process. Getting into the server-side script

The server-side script runs on Service-Now server-side. Out of the box, Service-Now provides many ways to interact with Business Rules and Script Includes. Business Rules are like a DataManipulationLanguage (DML) command, which helps to manipulate the form field, and Script Includes are like a central repository of code, where you place all your code and call from the client side.

Getting ready

To go through this recipe, you should have an active Service-Now instance and valid credentials with an admin role.

How to do it…

  1. Open any standard web browser and type the instance address.
  2. Log in to the instance using valid credentials.
  3. To make recipe let’s understand some basics out of the box, Service-Now provides predefined variables, which you can use globally:
    • current: The current variable refers to the Service-Now form, which is currently being displayed
