Restoring the vSphere Distributed Switch configuration


The fact that we now can back up a DSwitch enables the ability to restore its configuration from a backup. The restore functionality is particularly useful when the changes made to a DSwitch have yielded undesired results.

How to do it...

The following procedures explain how to restore the DSwitch configuration.

  1. Right-click on the DSwitch and navigate to All vCenter Actions | Restore Configuration to bring up the Restore Configuration wizard.

  2. In the Restore Configuration wizard, click on Browse... to locate and select the DSwitch backup ZIP archive.

  3. Choose between Restore distributed switch and all port groups or Restore distributed switch only, and click on Next to continue:

  4. Review the Import Settings section on the Ready to complete screen, and click on Finish to initiate the restore operation.
