Introduction to Citrix Receiver


Citrix Receiver is a light software client that makes accessing virtual applications and desktops possible on almost any client machine, including Windows and Macintosh computers and mobile devices such as Android, Blackberry, Apple iPhones, and iPad devices.

Citrix describes the Citrix Receiver as similar to a satellite or cable TV receiver in a broadcast media service. Citrix Receiver allows IT organizations to deliver desktops and applications as an on-demand service to any device in any location with a rich "high-definition" experience.

The information in this chapter is based on Citrix Receiver 3.2 and Merchandising Server 2.2.
