Creating formatted e-mail notification templates


This recipe discusses the steps required to create a rich text formatted e-mail template.

Getting ready

This procedure requires you to have a copy on Microsoft Word 2007 or above installed. You must be in the SCSM Administrators role and have the SCSM console open.

We will use an incident notification as an example. We will create a template for sending the affected user the following incident details:

  • The ID

  • Title

  • Description

  • Status

How to do it...

  1. Create a new word document and type the details of the properties using new lines to separate each property:

  3. Navigate to the file location. Open the file with Notepad and copy the text.

  4. Navigate to SCSM Console | Administration | Notifications | Templates and select Create E-Mail Template from the Tasks workspace:
