Chapter 2. Building Your Canvas Course

This chapter will cover the foundations of building your Canvas course to create and arrange the content your students will interact with when they log in. We will start by exploring the Course Setup Checklist, which will help guide you through the process of building your course. We will then discuss some of the important ideas to keep in mind when planning your course and conceptualizing how you will use Canvas for your unique educational situation. After this, we will learn how to import content from another course on Canvas or from another learning management system (LMS). Next, we will work through how to add assignments and content to your course, specifically focusing on how to use the Rich Content Editor. We will examine the various types of assignments you can create within Canvas, and we will cover how to create assignment groups for weighted assignments.
