Time for action – adding a Newsflash to the home page


Let's use the Newsflash module to show a random article intro text from a selected category each time the page is loaded. Every time the visitor returns, another item will be displayed in the Newsflash module position.

  1. Navigate to Extensions | Module Manager. Click New and select Articles – Newsflash:

  2. Make sure Status: is set to Published to get the module to display. This is the default setting.

  3. In the Title box, type an appropriate title. In this example, we'll enter Recent Lectures as the module title. Make sure Show Title is set to Show.

  4. Select Position: position-7 to display the module in one of the boxes available in this template below the main content.

  5. Click the Menu Assignment tab and select Only on the pages selected. Set the module to show on the Home page only.

  6. Click on the Basic Options tab, select the Category from which Joomla should show one or more article intro texts: Art Lectures.
