Summary

In this chapter, we saw in detail how to perform the provisioning of the Samba 4 Server as an Active directory Domain Controller, went through the initial phases of planning the network topology, structured the Active Directory, and created a checklist to help us organize information.

At the end of the chapter, we executed a series of tests and validations of important parts of the Active Directory server and thus, touched upon the subsystems that provide the core functionality of the Samba 4 AD/DC services. The last test was actually for joining a test server (Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server) to our POA Domain. We learned how to manage the Samba 4 Server from the Windows 2008 server, using the features that needed to be enabled on this Windows server's version.

Using our test machine, we tested the creation of custom OUs in our Active Directory, and so we could create our planned structure; and with the help of prebuilt scripts, we populated the AD/DC with 47 (nonPower) users.
