In this chapter, we have covered some of the most frequently applied and most useful of the structural patterns. We began by seeing how the framework separates model from view and then how to manage data structures with the RecyclerView and its adapter and how this is similar to the adapter design pattern. With this connection established, we then went on to create an example of how we use adapters to counter the inevitable incompatibilities between objects, unlike the bridge pattern we built next, which is designed beforehand.
Having started the chapter on quite a practical note, it concludes by taking a close look at two other important structural patterns, the facade, for simplifying structures apparent functionality and the criteria pattern, which works on sets of data, returning filtered sets of objects, applying multiple criteria as simply as we might one.
In the next chapter, we will explore user interfaces and how to apply the design library to provide swipe and dismiss behavior...
