Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG)

A Scalable Vector Graphic(SVG) - is an XML-based image format for graphics. It's different than raster formats, like JPEG and PNG, because it SVG scale to any size without losing any resolution or looking pixelated. This means that we don't need multiple images for retina or responsive layouts! Another bonus with SVG's is that the file size is can be much smaller than that of the same image, saved as a JPEG or PNG. All major browsers support the SVG format as far back as IE9. SVGs aren't a replacement for every image on your site–they are particularly suited for line drawings, which are typically generated through design software, such as Adobe Illustrator.
