Firebase Performance Monitoring offers a straightforward approach to monitoring the performance of an app. Performance is monitored using traces that measure app performance at certain periods of execution. Once the Performance Monitoring library has been added to an app, a number of trace metrics are monitored automatically. Custom traces can be created by making trace start and stop calls within the app. Once performance data has been captured, the data is analyzed within the Performance Monitoring section of the Firebase Console. We have explored how to enable and disable the Logcat and build time, and we have also explored disabling runtime through the support of Firebase Remote Config. We now have a fairly good understanding of the Firebase Console for Performance Monitoring.
In the next chapter, we will deep dive into Firebase Analytics and Cloud Messaging for Android.
