Chapter 9. Cook Up a Multiple Banner System

Banners are an important marketing tool on websites in general, and can generate extra income for your business. You might already be selling advertising space or working with affiliate membership systems, but standard osCommerce was configured for defined groups of banners linking your customer to external sites only. As a result, a new browser window will automatically open when you click on a banner. An additional drawback of the default system is that you cannot specify which category is linked to which banner; this is critical for target-group-specific advertising.
