Analysis

Analysis of business rules for defining document lifecycles involves gathering information regarding the important stages in the life of a document type and the details around the transitions between these stages. Some additional information may also be captured about how the documents need to be managed within Documentum, as they progress through these stages. For example, it may be desirable to move the document to a new location and restrict access after a certain point in the document's lifecycle.

In the hiring process example, analysis may require talking to the Human Resources managers and the interviewers to understand if they want to sort resumes in different folders as they move through the hiring process and are later archived.
