Move CMS Made Simple to another web hosting


This section helps you understand how to move an entire CMS Made Simple application to another hosting service.

Step 1

Consider this step for busy websites that accept data from visitors, like Comments or FrontEndUsers. Enable the Site Down Message to prevent somebody from using the website while you are moving it to another hosting service. In the admin console, click on Site Admin | Global Settings, and select the Sitedown Settings tab. Write the message that the visitors to the website will see if they try to use your website during the transfer, then tick the Enable Site Down Message checkbox, and click Submit. From now on, visitors to the website will see the Site Down Message instead of the website.

Step 2

Clear the cache folder. CMS Made Simple creates a lot of temporary files to speed up the website. These files must not be saved with the backup as they will be generated automatically once CMS Made Simple is installed and running. To clear...
