Internationalization is more than a new language


Magento gives you the ability to display your store in different languages. When you enable support for multiple languages, Magento will display the store navigation in the language that the shopper selects. Magento does this through language packs that you install.

However, Magento won't translate your product descriptions, category names, and other product information. You will need to translate the product information. Then, both the store navigation and the product information will be displayed in the language that the shopper selects.

Here is an example of a Magento store that was created in English. The store administrator installed the French language pack. Now, when the shopper selects the French language, Magento displays the navigation items in French. For example, the block labeled MY CART in English is now labeled MON PANIER.
