In the last section, we noted that the Date and Time configuration settings have changed from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. Let's look at the changes in more detail.
The first tab on the Date and time settings page allows you to configure the date types that are available within the system. By default, there are three types available: Long, Medium, and Short.
You can add a new date type by clicking on the Add date type link. Let's build an Extra Long date type. On the Add date type screen, simply enter the name of the type (Drupal will create an internal name for you) and select the Date format you want to use from the list of available formats.
Click on the Add date type button when you are satisfied with your selections.
If you can't find the format you want in the list, you can build your own date format. Click on the FORMATS tab and you will see a list of all the custom date formats that have been defined. By default, there aren't any.
