As this chapter is being written Joomla! 1.6 is in beta 7, thus this information is subject to change.

In this chapter, we'll look at a few recipes that cover the portions of Joomla! 1.6 that are brand new.

The 1.6 version has several exciting features such as unlimited nesting of categories - or in other words, categories, which can hold categories, which can, in turn, hold categories. Each can be tuned to the specific site's need. Access Control List (ACL) which is native to Joomla! 1.6 and much more.

We cover this and a few other new gems that are found in 1.6.
