Installing the template using the administrator tool


The Joomla! Administrator allows for installation of all extensions and templates to your Joomla! site. There are two means by which to install your template and in this method we will show you the most common and preferred method, using the admin console.

Getting ready

You will need to have acquired your template of choice for this step. Please note that the template will be in a compressed form. It could have a .zip or .tgz extension.

You will need the following items:

  • Your new template's compressed file (it will contain several files)

  • Your FileZilla or other FTP client

How to do it...

You probably purchased or downloaded a free template from one of the many sources on the Internet.

You will login to your Joomla! Administrator, then select the installation manager, and upload the template.
