Setting up a program-wide testing procedure
Another standard utilized by many educational programs is the test. Many programs administer a standardized test to students and include performance on the test in the student's overall grade for a class or classes within a program. As we set up Moodle to function as a CIMS, we can implement a testing procedure that greatly increases the efficiency of the test administration as well as the grading process.
For our example, all students in Listening classes are required to take a program-wide final exam. This final exam is the one that comprises 40 percent of the student's grade as set up in our Gradebook template, introduced earlier in this chapter. The following two examples will cover the two main methods of implementing a program-wide testing procedure of this nature. These are the administration of an exam outside of the Moodle system and the administration of an exam via the Moodle Quiz module.
