Summary
In this chapter, we introduced and set up four different roles that allow for various types of access and permissions to your Moodle site and the courses within. The first role was one that could be used to effectively silence a user or student who has demonstrated inappropriate behavior in the forums or other areas of the site. The second role was one that can be assigned to a secretary or possibly a marketing staff member such that they can update information on the site housed in either the pages created by the Content Pages block or via the news forum on the front page of the site. The third role was one that could be used to allow supervisors or directors to have access to all, or a group of, courses on the site. This role could provide for an online observation system that resembles a more traditional classroom observation system. The final role introduced was that of the parental monitor or mentor.
