Creating Template Styles to style individual pages


Most websites probably use just one template. Joomla! 1.6, however, allows for much more flexibility. It's possible to assign specific templates to style individual pages or groups of pages. If your site is divided into five main categories, why not use the same template in five different styles, each with their own set of options selected?

Creating and using a Template Style

Let's find out how creating and applying a Template Style works. We'll create a copy of the default Beez2 template and use it to style only the pages that are linked to through one specific menu link. In this case, we'll assign this style to the pages about Joomla! Components in the sample site:

  1. 1. Go to Extensions | Template Manager to access the Template Manager: Styles screen.

  2. 2. We'll use the Beez 2 template as the base template and create a copy of it. Select Beez2 - Default by ticking the select box to the left-hand side of the template name. Click on the Duplicate...
