Overriding Module strings or layout


If you use CMS Made Simple to build websites for customers, you will sometimes get into the frustrating situation where the functionality of a module is perfect for that customer's needs, but the name of the module confuses them. A common example of this is when a customer wants to publish a post-only blog on their site: the News module does exactly what they want, but they find the name "News" misleading.

There's a great solution, however, that works for everyone. You simply override the strings used by the module, so it calls itself "Blog" instead of "News." This recipe will show you how to override strings and even layouts of a CMS module.

How to do it...

  1. 1. Using your FTP client or a login shell, find your base installation directory.

  2. 2. In your base installation directory, create a directory named "module_custom".
