Chapter 3. Building Traffic I: Search Engine Optimization

I am probably going to cause no small amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth by adopting a slightly unconventional approach to the topic of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) by saying that it is really not something you should lose any sleep over. SEO is not hard. It doesn't require you to spend vast sums of money on specialist services who promise to get your blog to the top of search engine results.

In fact, as we will see in the coming chapters, WordPress comes with many SEO features built into the design. This allows you to focus more on the content-related SEO features as opposed to more technical, software, and design-related aspects, such as page aliasing. Before I get ahead of myself, let us take a quick look at the definition of SEO.
