Auditing


In this section, we will talk about the logging concept used in MDM that tracks security-related information on the MDM server. As we know in MDM, there are two types of log files created on the server: MDS_Audit and MDS_Log.

The MDS_Log stores technical server logs, whereas, the MDS_Audit stores the security-related information. We are going to talk about the kind of information stored in MDS_Audit logs in this section.

MDS_Log files are actually CSV or comma-separated files that are created in the following directory on the MDM server: <Installation Drive>\usr\sap\<SAP SID>\MDS<InstanceNumber>\log.

These log files can be viewed directly using the MDM Console's rich client application as follows:

  1. 1. Open the MDM Console and mount the MDM server.

  2. 2. Look for the Logs tree node in the Console Hierarchy pane and click on it:
