Creating an FLV video for using in your course


There are some video formats that do not convert to .flv, while others do. So, even though they appear in the import video dialog box, that doesn't guarantee that your video will import well.

Getting ready

You'll need a short video that you can convert. Any of the standard video formats will work. The longer the video, the longer it will take to convert.

How to do it…

To create an FLV video perform the following steps:

  1. When you open Video Encoder, the opening screen will provide you with three options—Import a video file, Record your webcam, or Open a recent video. We're going to select Import a video file. For simplicity sake, I'm going to use the wildlife sample video that comes with Windows.

  2. Clicking on Import a video file will open a standard Windows open file dialog box. Locate the video you want to import, select it, and click on the Open button. This will automatically open the Video Encoder screen, as follows:
