Touchscreen devices are ruling the mobile platform nowadays. Most of the smartphones and tablets have many elements using touch gestures and now it's coming to our desktop development. In his article Optimizing for Touch Across Devices, Luke Wroblewski says:

Touch target sizes: They are relatively easy to implement and any navigation system that needs to work with touch needs to have menu options that can be comfortably used by people with imprecise fingers to prevent accidental taps and errors.
