Installing Foundation CLI


In this recipe, you will learn how to install Foundation on the command line using npm.

Getting ready

To install Foundation CLI, you should have Node.js installed on your system. Read the Installing Sass for command line usage recipe of Chapter 1, Getting Started with Sass, to learn about Node.js and npm.

If you have Foundation 5 CLI installed, you should remove it before installing Foundation 6 CLI by running the following command in your console:

gem uninstall foundation

How to do it...

The following steps will show you how to install Foundation:

  1. Run the following command on your command line to install Foundation on your system:

    npm install --global foundation-cli
    
  2. The preceding command requires administrator rights for some systems. Use the sudo command for global installing with administrator rights.

  3. Once you've installed the CLI, use the new command to start making a new project:

    foundation new
    

    Answer the questions, as shown in the following image:
