Introduction

Ruby on Rails, or simply Rails, is a web application framework written in Ruby under MIT license. Rails 3.1 introduced Sass as the standard CSS preprocessor. In this chapter, you will learn how to build web applications with Rails and Sass. You do not have to create all your Sass (SCSS) from scratch because you can integrate other frameworks and libraries into your work flow.

In this chapter, you can read how to add Compass, Bourbon, Bootstrap, Susy, and Foundation on your Rails setup.

You can perform the recipes in the chapter without having any prior experience with Rails.

These Gems can also be used with Compass; also read the Maintaining your applications with Compass and Using Bootstrap with Compass recipes of Chapter 6, Using Compass.
