Working with the Properties panel


For this section, use the encoderDemo_800.cptx file (1).

As shown in the following screenshot, in the Classic workspace, the Properties panel is situated on the right-hand side of the interface (2). It is one of the most important and useful panels of Captivate.

The Properties panel (2) is a dynamic panel. It means that the content of this panel changes depending on the selected object. Let's experiment with this, hands-on.

  1. In the Filmstrip panel, click on the first slide to make it the active slide.

    You should be able to read the word Slide at the very top of the Properties panel. This tells you that the selected object is of type Slide. The selected object's properties are displayed in the Properties panel.

  2. Take some time to examine the available properties in the Properties panel.

    The selected slide contains three objects: a Text Caption, the Mouse object, and a blue Highlight Box next to the mouse pointer. These three objects have been automatically generated...
