Traditional marketing tools


Sometimes, it's easy to overlook the obvious. Such is the case with marketing your edX course. Given its technical nature, it's possible to disregard or overlook traditional promotional possibilities.

Granted, these will likely have a somewhat limited reach, but they do have value. You might notice that traditional tools are especially useful for a course offered only to students at your university or in a small private online course (SPOC). In a corporate setting, they might be all that is needed, especially since there is no need to market a class outside an organization.

Of course, you shouldn't interpret the use of the word traditional here to mean offline; rather think of it as meaning established. We will explore social media marketing options in the Social media marketing section of this chapter.
