REST-based systems


Representation State Transfer (REST) is a software architecture style for the Web and Web-based applications. REST has become very popular and there are hundreds of applications powered by REST APIs. REST APIs enable us to build distributed and multitier systems efficiently. A typical single page, JavaScript-driven application are mostly powered by REST APIs. Whenever we have a backend with data storage, many clients want it to be REST-based so that the backend layer can be decoupled from the frontend layer.
