In order to address the identified gaps in terms of people, processes, and tools, 4APPmigos made the following recommendations in their report:
People and organization: New business capabilities (for example an order management service or sales order service) should be delivered by a single multi-disciplinary team containing all skills required. This model implies smaller team sizes, with all the necessary skills to develop and support a business capability co-located. As a result, communication gaps and management overheads would be avoided. Also, because these capabilities would be delivered following ASG principles, solutions should in principle be modular and integrate cohesively.
Upskill existing personnel responsible for SOAs so that they can further define, build, and support APIs. This would be much more beneficial than creating new teams or hiring new personnel just for the purpose of handling API requirements. This would be a first step towards the adoption of Application...
