Besides Tastypie, there is a newer and fresher framework to create API for your data transfers to and from third parties. That's Django REST Framework. This framework has more extensive documentation and Django-ish implementation, it is also more maintainable. Therefore, if you have to choose between Tastypie or Django REST Framework, I would recommend the latter one.
