A user journey is a visual representation of the step-by-step path the user takes through a website to reach their end goal. Each of these steps consists of decisions made by the user to continue to the next step.
The UX team will dissect the user journey and revise each step to make the journey as smooth as possible. User journeys can be divided into the following types of flows:
- The current flow of how the user is interacting with the website
- The potential flow, how the user can interact with the website
Benefits of creating user journeys:
- Understand user behavior in relation to the product/website
- Pinpoint obstacles that prohibit the user from reaching their end goal
- Validate the value proposition and business vision
