Software testing comes in many different forms. In this section, we will discuss the different methodologies for testing code and cover the most common types of code tests.
There are two methodologies to testing code, black box and white box. The term black box signifies a system where the internal workings are not known. The only way the system can be observed is through its inputs and outputs. A white box system is a system where the internal workings are known. It can be observed through its inputs, outputs, and exact internal workings. Black box and white box systems could be anything from a software program, to a mechanical device, or any other system.
