Variables and Advanced Actions

Guided and Exploratory options

Now, let's talk about the Guided and Exploratory options available for VR projects in Captivate. You will find these options in the Slide Properties inspector. As shown in the following screenshot, the default value for this option is Exploratory:

In an Exploratory VR slide, learners experience the content with no guidance about which Hotspot should be clicked. They are free to choose which Hotspots they click and in what order they click them, while exploring the 360 space. Let's preview the project to better understand the Exploratory option:

  1. In the Chapter11/VR_project.cptx file, go to the Toolbar and click Preview | Project. After a few seconds, your VR project opens in the default web browser of your system.
  2. Click the Play icon in the browser window.
  3. Click the Forward button on the Playbar to go to slide 2.
