Using the Timeline to set the timing of the objects

The primary purpose of the Timeline is to let you control the timing of the objects on the active slide. For each object, you can choose when it appears on the stage and how long it stays visible. By carefully and precisely arranging the objects on the Timeline, you'll be able to achieve great visual effects with minimal effort. This is what you will explore in this section, using the following steps:

  1. Use the Filmstrip to navigate to slide 5 of the Chapter04/takeTheTrain.cptx project.
  2. Look at the Timeline panel and notice how the six objects of the slide are organized.
  3. Click an empty area of the slide or the scrap area around the slide to make it the active item. The Properties inspector updates and displays the properties of the slide. In the Timeline panel, slide 5 turns blue when it's active.
  4. Switch to the Timing panel, which is located next to the Properties inspector.
  5. At the top of the Timing panel, change the Slide Duration...
