Variables and Advanced Actions

Customizing the Normal (Default) state

By default, each object of Captivate has a single state called the Normal (Default) state. Using the State View of Captivate, this Normal (Default) state can be customized as well. In this extra credit section, you will add a Character image and a callout Smart Shape to the Normal (Default) state of the map_belgium image. The general steps are as follows:

  • Return to the State View of the map_belgium image and select the Normal (Default) state.
  • Add a Character image of your liking to the right-hand side of the slide.
  • Also add a callout Smart Shape. Write Click the blue dots to see more information on the corresponding station. Arrange the callout so it points at the Character image.
  • Exit the State View to return to the default Captivate interface.

Because you have added these two objects to the Normal (Default) state of your image, they will disappear and be replaced by the content of the other states whenever the student clicks a blue dot. The following...
