Working with web fonts

A third solution is to use web fonts. This idea is very simple to understand. Instead of relying on fonts that are installed on your student's computer, you can use fonts hosted on the internet. The chosen font is downloaded before it is used to render text, which makes it available to all of your students. Sure enough, this impairs performance, as an extra file (the font) must be downloaded from the server before the content is made available to the viewer. Also, some students working on restricted networks or being behind a proxy server might not be able to download the font from the public internet. However, on the other hand, you have a much wider range of fonts to choose from. (Not mentioning that the caching technologies used by web browsers makes the performance issue a very minor annoyance.)
