A quick look at Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Learning Evaluation model

Dr. Donald Kirkpatrick (1924 – 2014) was Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin. He spent most of his professional life at the Management Institute of the University of Wisconsin, teaching subjects such as Coaching, Change Management, communication, and Leadership, etc. He also served as president of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and was a member of Training Magazine's Hall of Fame.

During the 1950s, he developed the Four Levels of Learning Evaluation model (also known as the Kirkpatrick model, or the Four Levels model), which served as the subject of his Ph.D. dissertation in 1954. His ideas have gained worldwide attention from a book he published in 1994 entitled Evaluating Training Programs. Today, this model is one of the most recognized and widely used training evaluation models.
