Creating your own Photoblog theme


Now that you have seen some great photoblog themes, how about creating your own theme? In fact, due to WordPress' flexibility, we can easily transform any existing theme into a photoblog theme. In this example, I'll transform the default WordPress theme into a photoblog theme.

Getting ready

The first thing we need to do is to identify the needs for the purpose of achieving the goal of transforming a classic theme into a photoblog theme.

We need to:

  • Be able to post pictures

  • Display only one picture at the time

  • Have next and previous links for the visitor to see more pictures

  • Have the possibility of inserting a caption for each picture

How to do it...

Carry out the following steps in order to display one picture at a time:

  1. Open the index.php file and find the loop:
