Time for action — differences between the Brushed Metal and Basic themes


Now that you've changed your first theme, let's see how some differences between the Brushed Metal and Basic themes may affect the way you and your visitors see your weblog:

  1. Open your web browser and go to your weblog's front page (http://localhost/roller). Scroll down until you locate the Controls section at the left-hand side of the screen:

  2. Click on the Login link to log into Roller. The New Entry page will show up. Now click on the Front Page link in Roller's menu bar:

  3. Roller will take you again to your weblog's front page. Scroll down and take a look at the Controls section again:

  4. As you can see, there are more links in this section when you're logged in: Front Page, Weblog, New Entry, Settings, and Logout.

  5. Click on the Settings link to return to the administrator interface. Roller will take you to the Weblog Settings page (Preferences tab). Now click on the Design tab to see the Weblog Theme page, select the Basic...
