We've covered a lot of ground in this chapter. You should now know about some of the design principles to consider when working on your blog theme. These should give you the confidence to critically evaluate your existing blog design and maybe make some improvements.
We also went through a very brief introduction to HTML and CSS before setting up a local development environment. Finally, we worked through the process of applying a completely new design for our case study blog by using the Thematic theme framework. We saw how an attractive design can be achieved by just editing the child theme's stylesheets. The finished theme is included in the code bundle for this chapter.
In the next chapter, we will be looking at a variety of options for adding images and videos to our WordPress blog.
