Creating or editing individual Menu Items


Up to now, we've had a look at the Menu Manager screens and functionality. It's high time to take our exploration one step further and examine how you can edit individual menu items in Joomla! 1.6 . To create or open a menu item, go to Menu Manager | Menu Items and either click on New or click on the name (in the Title column) of an existing menu item. If you choose the second option, this will open a screen similar to the one shown below:

What's new? Most importantly, in the Details section you can choose from an updated set of Menu Item Types, and the formerly named Parameters on the right-hand side of the screen have changed to new sets of Settings and Options.

New toolbar buttons

In the Edit Menu Item (or New Menu Item) screen you'll recognize the new toolbar buttons that you've used in previous chapters. You can click on Save as Copy to save the current menu item as a copy, or you can click on Save & New to save the menu item and start...
