Making a module localizable

CMS Made Simple has built-in support for making modules multilingual for both the administrators and the end users. If you are writing a module for your own personal use, you may be tempted to save some time and hardcode all of the strings and output to be only in your own native language. It turns out, however, that if a module is useful to you, there will be other people for whom it would be useful. If you share a module with others, it's worth the extra work to make it localizable. People from all over the world will thank you.

Getting ready

This recipe assumes you're working with a module that was not written in a localized fashion to begin with. It also assumes that your project is in the CMS Made Simple Developer's Forge Subversion repository.
