Writing a line to the CMS Admin Log

Modules provide several kinds of information to CMS Made Simple site administrators. For most modules, there's the module's administration panel, where the various site administrators can interact directly with the module. There are alert messages that the module displays in the admin panel. There is debug information, where the module can output internal state information to help diagnose problems. There is also audit information. This is where the module writes messages to the Admin Log to record when significant events have occurred.

The Admin log is useful to record things that are important from both a diagnostic and organizational standpoint. If you're encountering a new behavior from a module, for example, it would be useful to see in the log that the module was recently upgraded. Similarly, there could be module actions where it would be useful to know who performed the action: who added or modified a database record, for example.
