Summary


In this chapter, we introduced you to WebSphere MQ in terms of how it is used in Q replication to achieve assured delivery of messages once and only once. We covered the MQ queues required for the various scenarios, which are covered in later chapters, and gave some guidelines on naming standards. We then went on to cover the MQ commands that we would usually come across, such as creating, starting, and stopping a Queue Manager and issuing commands to a Queue Manager. We covered the MQ sample programs that can be used to check that MQ has been set up correctly and then looked at the Dead Letter Queue handler. We finally listed some of the common MQ error messages that occur with Q replication.

We will now move on to looking at the ASNCLP command interface, which is our choice for setting up a Q replication environment.
